Start of Week 7

As we enter our 7th week here at Gallagher, I realize that people weren’t lying when they said that this program would go by quickly.  It feels like just yesterday we were lining up in Aruba for Violet to take our mugshots!

Nevertheless, we have only 3 weeks left and numerous projects to finish up in that short time.  With our Regional Project, the audit, the website project, Workforce Evaluation and everything in between, we have a lot on our plate and must continue to make a concerted effort to stay on task.  This internship has taught me a great deal about the importance of managing my time properly, something I never struggled with much in college.  I’ve even started keeping lists on my desks of my goals for the week to make sure that nothing important falls to the backburner- a tip my mentor so kindly shared with me & that has been very effective!

Looking at our intern calender, we have many pending activities to look forward to.  As usual, we’ll be leaving the office quite a bit, visiting carriers & clients and enjoying lunches out.  Not to mention, Friday night we have Karaoke night & TJ and I get to go to an Angels game!  Should be a great way to wrap up another busy, exciting week.

First Few Weeks

Like TJ, I too am blogging for the very first time. In the 5 weeks we have participated in this program, I have learned and been exposed to significantly more than I had ever expected. Each day, I feel grateful and excited knowing that I will be an active participant and contributor to our office. One of my favorite aspects of this internship thus far has been seeing the interactions between our team members and both their clients and the carriers they’re working with. We’ve learned so much about adjusting for different personality types via DISC training and sales training so it has been very interesting to see everyone’s individual style. I find it to be such a valuable learning experience, for as we all know, the best way to learn is through firsthand experience rather than simply being told something or reading it in a book. Also, I am so appreciative of every team member in our office. They are consistently making concerted efforts to include us, to provide us with a valuable learning experience and most of all, get to know us. No internship program I have experienced before so regularly goes that extra mile.
