How cool are british accents?

Somewhat off topic, but every time we do a conference call I wonder where Simon is from and I also get a mental image of the Geico gecko.

Anyways, I’m pretty sure I met most/all of you guys in Itasca and I have to say that everyone is really cool, even the people from the LA branch.  I also think its great that everyone is so diverse.  From Greg playing water polo, Elena running a half-marathon, and Josh break dancing, everyone has unique talents that make them interesting people to talk with.  Going downtown on Thursday to get “acquainted” with Chicago was great and I was glad to see that aside from work, everyone knows how to have fun.

On the more professional side, getting to know the different divisions of AJG was helpful, but the overall theme of being ethically driven and focusing on our clients was the biggest take-away for me.   Another shout out for Liane for planning the whole week.  One piece of advice from me is to allow interns to eat dinner away from the hotel.  I thought the food in the hotel was great, but I would have liked to go out to dinner so I could see more of the Chicago area.

Mike and I have started cold calling some prospects this week and I was wondering if anyone else has done the same.  We have had limited success and would love any advice you guys can give.

Simon in Sacramento

I thought I would add my blurb too…

I’m Simon - I am the Branch Operation Director for Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc in Sacramento, CA and I am co-ordinating our blog project, so you might see me mentioned from time to time.

Originally from England, I have lived in California for 20 plus years (I think it’s safe to say I’m not going to go back). I am very much looking forward to helping the 2008 interns here in the Western Region document their experiences and I hope it will help the program to grow even larger in 2009.
